A team's Slack gets noisy when nobody has agreed how channels, mentions and notifications work. One week of setup gives the whole team the same answers.

Most small teams never set Slack up. Channels pile up with names nobody understands, every question goes to the same person by DM, @channel fires for a lunch order, and everyone's phone buzzes for every post. People stop reading, and the important message gets lost with the rest.

This course is the setup, in the order that works: channel names with prefixes that say what belongs where, a quiet #general for news, threads, notification settings each person sets once, AI summaries and recaps for catching up, workflows that run the welcome message and the weekly routines, and one etiquette page in a canvas that every new person sees. Every plan, price, setting and menu was checked on Slack's own help pages in October 2026, and each lesson says plainly which features need Pro or Business+.

You practise along the way: naming six channels from real requests, a Monday back from a week off, and setting up your own workspace this week.

You walk away with a channel map, notification settings that let you work, a welcome workflow and a weekly routine, and a dated etiquette page your team can follow.

Who it's for

Owners and office managers: run a Slack workspace of 5 to 50 people and want it to stop eating the day.

Team leads: want their own group's channels and habits sorted, even if someone else administers the workspace.

Anyone who just set Slack up: and wants to get the structure right before the noise starts.
