Your lowest acceptable rate comes from your pay, your costs and the hours you actually bill, and you can work it out from last quarter's invoices in an evening.

The hours you bill are fewer than the hours you work, so a rate picked by habit can fall short of the pay and costs it has to cover. Above that floor, the price can go as high as the result is worth to the client, and finding that out takes a few direct questions on the call.

You work out your floor rate from your own invoices, find what a client's problem costs them, and quote a fixed price for a written scope with three honest options. You learn when billing by the hour is still the right call, how to hold a price when the client pushes back, and how to raise the clients you already have without guessing how many you can afford to lose. Every figure is worked through, and the method works in any currency.

Who it's for

Freelancers and consultants: bill by the hour and want a price they can defend.

Agency and studio owners: quote projects every week and want a repeatable way to set the number.

Service business owners: have clients on old rates and want to raise them without losing the good ones.
