A 52-minute recorded conversation can be cut to a clean half-hour episode the way you edit a document: by deleting words.

Most founders who record a podcast or client interviews either pay an editor, publish the raw file, or lose evenings to a timeline. Transcript editors such as Descript change that: you delete a sentence from the text and it disappears from the recording. The tools now go further, removing filler words, shortening pauses and cleaning up a laptop microphone, and each of them can also strip out the pauses that make a guest sound human or change what they meant.

This course teaches the editing judgment along with the buttons. You fix the transcript before you cut, cut in three passes from the biggest block to the smallest word, and keep every answer under the question it answered. You review the cleaning tools before accepting them, handle a wrong figure without faking anyone's voice, do one full listen, and export at the loudness podcast apps expect, with chapters and checked show notes. Every plan, limit and feature was read on the vendors' own pages in October 2026, including what Descript's free plan holds back.

You walk away with one real recording edited into a finished episode, and a repeatable order of work for the next one.

Who it's for

Founders with a podcast: record a regular show and want it to sound tight without hiring an editor.

Teams who record interviews: customer stories, expert conversations or recorded panels that need cutting before anyone outside hears them.

Anyone who gave up on a timeline editor: can edit a document and would rather edit audio the same way.
